Published weekly and reaching tens of thousands of employees across 33 countries, the Brief is Bechtel's flagship internal newsletter. It's a carefully crafted publication that earns an open rate of around 80% week over week.
My role is creating the visual graphics that accompany each edition, including custom GIFs, illustrations, and designed elements that bring the stories to life and give the Brief its distinctive, polished look. In 2026, the Bechtel Brief was recognized by Axios HQ with a Best-in-Class Award for All-Staff Communications.
Beyond the Brief, my work spans the broader range of communications needs across Bechtel's enterprise. That includes web banners and SharePoint graphics for internal campaigns, print publications and booklets, policy documents, large-format signage, video series, and general design support for both internal teams and client-facing materials.
The variety is a natural part of the role. Requests come in from across the organization, covering a wide range of formats, audiences, and turnaround times. I also serve as the internal point of contact for brand guideline questions, helping colleagues ensure their communications align with Bechtel's visual identity standards regardless of where or how they're producing them.
And once in a while, I get to decorate a space to look a little more Bechtel.
