Construction has one of the highest rates of suicide of any occupation in the United States — a reality that Bechtel chose to confront directly through a landmark partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), backed by a $7 million grant and a goal of reaching 500,000 construction workers across the country.
My role was to support the creative behind the campaign. That included the main poster graphic and promotional materials, as well as infographics translating sobering national statistics into clear, accessible visuals. When Bechtel held a global stand down event in 2024 to honor those lost to suicide, I was on the ground in Reston capturing photo and video, as well as directing two other photographers and coordinating with the AV team.
After the event, we then coordinated gathering content from sites around the world and I was able to create assets to be used across social media and internal channels to document the moment and keep the conversation going.
It's the kind of project where the design work genuinely matters, and one I'm glad to have been a part of.
