Every two years, Bechtel selects roughly 300 of its highest performers and emerging leaders for an exclusive, week-long summit, and the experience they walk away with starts long before the first keynote. As the lead designer for the 2024 Global Business Meeting, I was responsible for the event's complete visual identity, from initial concept through on-site execution. That included developing the brand system, color palette, and design language, then carrying it across presentation decks, stage design, environmental graphics, digital signage, and all printed materials.
The visual style was designed to both fit within Bechtel's existing color palette, while also feeling singular to 2024's event. To that end, I selected four shades from our secondary colors and used them as the basis for the overall look and feel, aiming for a vibrant, forward-looking, and exciting direction.
Beyond the design work, I was embedded with the production team for the full run of show, contributing to rehearsals, lighting and audio cues, and speaker coaching. I arrived a week early and stayed two days after close to see every detail through.
The 2024 GBM was one of the most demanding and rewarding projects of my career, a reminder of what's possible when a great team is fully invested in the work.
